In France, there are two associated plug types, types C and E. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and plug type E is the plug which has two round pins and a hole for the socket’s male earthing pin. France operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. We also provide a USB charger upon request.
The house is central heated through a sustainable heat exchange system and there is also a wood burner in the lounge. Electric fans are in all bedrooms.
The reversible air conditioning of gîte Loups d’Or is partially for your own account, our ecological approach for a rational use of an aircon. The unit is equipped with a separate electricity meter which will be read on arrival and departure but can be read any time upon request.
The first €10 are included in a weekly rent and if you use more than this, it’ll be calculated separately.
To give you an idea: the running cost of the aircon is €0.43 per hour (€0.215 per KWh)) and if you keep it running for 24hrs, the running cost is €10.32
Pimm being Dutch and Marcel being German and both having lived in the UK, we speak Dutch, German and English. Pimm also speaks French and Marcel gets around very well and learns each day.

Cooking together, can be great fun, even if you don’t consider yourself a cordon bleu, but why not give yourselves a treat and have a private chef that does all the hard work for you, like the shopping, the cooking and the cleaning in the kitchen at the end of it. Your only worry is……to enjoy your evening.
Another suggestion is to have a prepared meal ready on the day you arrive, which can be warmed up in the oven or microwave. In this case, you don’t have to worry about shopping right after a long drive and just relax upon arrival at Loups d’Or.
We are very happy we were able to meet Martina, the owner of Orangette Catering, and Amandine + Charly, the owners of restaurant and traiteur ’La Confrérie du Bourg’.
Martina is Sicilian and learned to cook ragu and fry aubergines at the age of 5. She is dedicated to connecting people through food by bringing home cooking back into people’s lives, from nostalgic French recipes to authentic hard-to-find dishes. We are spoiled vegetarians, but she managed to surprise us and like us, she loves simple, genuine, locally sourced home cooked food.
Amandine + Charly are the owners of nearby restaurant and traiteur ’La Confrérie du Bourg’, who both had their training in Switzerland.
They only work with fresh organic products and primarily with local products. They adapt to different diets (vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, etc.). They are very passionate chefs and just love experimenting and trying new things which you can definitely notice and taste.
If you decide to visit their restaurant, it is a 10min drive and their choice of wines is excellent.
We regret that due to allergy considerations of future guests, pets (like dogs and cats) are not permitted. Also, our garden is not fenced.
Listening to piano music improves social connections, often has a calming impact that can help to relieve and reduces negative emotions, while increasing the positive ones, and piano music improves the mood. In the lounge of Grand Loup, we have a piano for you to play on and if you need sheet music, we have got some for you.
Every month has its own charm, so we are open in all seasons. Discover the Dordogne all year round.
Smoking is not allowed in the house and in the rooms.
The nearest train station is in Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard, 25 min by car from Lusignac. Another train station is in Mussidan, 35 min from us, with trains to and from Bordeaux. The main train stations (TGV) are in Bordeaux, Angoulême and Périgeux.
Our tap water is softened and there is a Brita filtered water jug in the kitchen.
Our part of the Dordogne is perfect for walking, running, cycling, horse riding, kayaking etc. and all these activities take you to the beautiful spots in our region.
But if you don’t want to get out and rather stay ‘at home’ at Loups d’Or, we’ve met some great people who’d love to help and support you getting and/or staying fit.
If you want to maintain your exercise regime or burn off the extra Périgourdine cuisine calories, we can arrange a personal trainer for fitness, muscle strengthening and aquafitness in your private pool.
It’s not only you who’s having a holiday though, your body too, so maybe you just want to relax during your stay. What about Creative Kinesiology therapy or a Californian, Swedish, Ayurvedic or foot reflexology massage in the garden or in your own room?
Also, the summer holidays are a fantastic opportunity for your children to learn to swim or at least to get more confidence in the water, or even help them getting a head start. Therefore, swimming lessons can be arranged for them.
Throughout the house and on the balcony, we have free Wi-Fi.
We are about an hour’s drive away from the Bergerac vineyards and certainly worth visiting. We’re in contact with Château Montplaisir, Château la Rayre and Château Montlong, all three producing organic wines.
Sarah has a selection of wines up and down the price spectrum and they all represent good value in terms of their quality for their price category.
