2024, Summer Olympics in France – we are ready for you!
An early bird gets the gîte ....... we just opened our booking calendar for 2024 in case you plan a French holiday around 'Paris 2024' when the Summer Olympics will take place from 26 July - 11 August 2024, and the Paralympics from 28 August - 8 September 2024.
Both games are taking place in our capital Paris, in 16 cities spread across France and in the French overseas territory of Tahiti.
Bordeaux, which is just a 1,5 hour drive from us, will host at least 6 matches of the men's and women's soccer tournament, track cycling, fencing and armchair fencing, hockey and tennis. Paris isn't very far either, only 45 min by car + 1,5 hours by TGV.
Some facts about these Games:
- they will mark the centenary of the Paris Games, previously hosted in 1924;
- the Games will use 95% existing or temporary venues to stage the competitions;
- for the first time in the Games' history, the Marathon will be open to everyone, even amateur athletes;
- 4 new sports are added: breakdancing, sport climbing, surfing and skateboarding;
- in summer, the banks of the River Seine are covered in sand and transformed to 'Paris Plages', Paris Beaches;
- and if you're a musician and want to become famous, musicians playing in the Paris Metro (Underground) have to pass an audition to obtain a badge holder, permitting them to perform in any underground station.
Nearly 20 million visitors are expected, so be an early bird to book your holiday at Loups d'Or, here in our beautiful hills of the Dordogne.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!
